Service Dog training is an expensive process that takes years of hard work. Which also means years of food, vet care, grooming, training, training equipment such as vests, collars, etc. This definitely adds up, especially when we’re training 3-4 program dogs at a time.
This is where our amazing sponsors (and donators) come in! Without all of you, we would not be able to do this! We work hard to provide quality Service Dogs to disabled veterans and children (and civilians when available) and our sponsors make this possible!
What can a sponsor do?
A sponsor can do a lot of things to assist us! The primary thing is sponsoring a dog! Service Dog Training takes a lot of time, money, and work! It is a 2-3 year dedication to each individual dog and this means providing a quality nutrition to ensure they have a long working life, proper vet care from basic shots, to emergency vet visits. Grooming can be anything from just a brush, to a full bath, blow out, haircut depending on the individual dog itself. Training equipment adds up fast when you train multiple dogs at a time. Vests, collars, leashes, you name it!
So helping sponsor a dog can really make a difference for our small nonprofit, but there are other ways of sponsoring to help us out too! Small things like washing machine, dryer & dishwasher repair and maintenance, yard maintenance, vehicle repair and maintenance and a lot of other small things like that impact our daily ability to provide quality service dogs to our disabled veteran and children clients.
Recently our dog truck that we use to safely transport our client dogs and program dogs went down on us and it has made it harder to safely transport our dogs for training in town or even traveling out of town for our clients. Getting this vehicle repaired and up and running again would be a huge help to our program!
